Leslie Margolin to Co-Chair Gitenstein Institute for Health Law and Policy at Hofstra Law School

The Maurice A. Deane School of Law at Hofstra University officially launched the Gitenstein Institute for Health Law and Policy on Thursday, April 25, 2013. The Institute will aim to “broaden access to quality health care for everyone and to create a more just health care system,” according to the official press release. Leslie Margolin will co-chair the Institute alongside Steven Walerstein, executive vice president for medical affairs and medical director at NuHealth.

Laurel G. Kaufer, Senior Advisor to The Margolin Group, will receive the 2012 "California Lawyer" Attorney of the Year Award along with Douglas E. Noll. For 3 years, Kaufer and Noll have led a pro bono project, Prison of Peace, providing inmates at maximum security Valley State Prison for Women with training in mediation, peacemaking and communication skills. Graduates of the program are instrumental in de-escalating and resolving conflicts among fellow inmates and between inmates and staff.
